Iona Hall

I have been making jewellery and silversmithing for 8 years now, including my degree at Glasgow School of Art and then proceeding onto a postgraduate course at Bishopsland. This has enabled me to develop skills, explore jewellery and silver making and design, later specialising in box making, in which I have received Goldsmiths awards for the past two years.

I am drawn to movement, lines and irregular patterns in natural forms from the beaches near my home in Scotland, translating these elements into my work to create silver wearable jewellery and functional objects. I love bringing a hint of colour to the subtle silver, whether that be a strip of gold, enamel or adding a stone. I create my work in a shared workshop in Bristol and retain a studio space in Morayshire, Scotland from which to work. With my mum's side of my family living in New Abbey, Dumfries, I have a strong connection to the region and participated in Spring Fling in 2020 and have spent many happy summers and Christmases in Dumfries & Galloway...
